Elaine Woodrome, 64, an Osawatomie native, died Thursday, March 3, 2005 at her home in Ottawa.

The daughter of Ernest and Florence McDowell Hicks, she was born Dec. 17, 1940 in rural Osawatomie. She attended Stockwell Grade School in Miami County her first seven years of schooling and grades eight through 12 at Osawatomie High School, graduating in 1958.

She lived in Osawatomie for 18 years, in St. Louis, Mo., for five months, in Ottawa for one year and in Junction City, Kan., for two years before returning to the Ottawa area in 1962.

She was married June 14, 1959, to Gale Woodrome in Osawatomie. She was a housewife for 45 years.

Mrs. Woodrome was a member of Faith Baptist church in Osawatomie, Calvary Baptist church in Junction City and Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa. She was a youth sponsor with her husband for 17 years, taught fourth-grade girls' Sunday School class for 25 years and sang in the church choir for many years.

Services were Monday at the church in Ottawa and burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.
