Joseph Michael Fenoughty, age 69, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 16, 2010 at his home.

Joe was born August 12, 1940 at Osawatomie, Kansas. He was the son of Paul Joseph and Marguerite Anne (McGrath) Fenoughty. He graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1958. He attended Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas where he ran track and field.

He was united in marriage to Linda Kaye Giles on May 5, 1962 at the St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie. They made their home in rural Osawatomie and became the parents of three children Tonya, Tammy, and Dennis.

Joe began work at Anderson County Coop as a fuel tank driver and later became manager. He then transferred to Miami County Coop and served as manager there for 17 years. He also was part owner of Miami County Livestock in Paola. For the next 10 years, he worked for Sprint North Supply in Gardner, Kansas. After his employment with Sprint, Joe worked for Tri-Ko in Osawatomie.

He was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church where he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He had been a member of the Rotary Club in Paola. He was also a lifelong member of BPOE #921 and the Kansas Livestock Association. He and his wife Linda won the Miami County Soil Conservation Award in 1970.

Joe loved watching his grandkids play sports, watching K-State win, going to livestock auctions, being out on the farm with his cows, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Francis.

He is survived by his wife Linda of the home; two daughters Tonya Booe and her husband Micha and Tammy Booe and her husband Joe; his son Dennis Fenoughty and his wife Tina all of Osawatomie; three sisters Loretta Carlton and Rosemary Wilson of Osawatomie and Eileen Keitel of Lenexa; seven grandchildren Ashley and Brittney Booe; Spencer, Sheldon and Sydney Booe, and Colby and Cayley Fenoughty; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home with rosary at 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Pretz, Bill Coddington, Jon Wilson, Darrel Williamson, Vernon Bartlettt, Bob Bricker, Mark Wilson, and Steve Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Swede Swenson, Herman Vail, Loren McCrea, Darrel White, Joe Donahue, Jim Martin, Ronnie Rattliff, Carol Ball, Spencer Booe, Sheldon Booe, Colby Fenoughty, and Brandon Maze. Memorials are to the St. Philip Neri Church or Osawatomie High School Scholarship Fund.
