Anna Faye Burkdoll-Parker was born February 17th, 1933 to Hugh and Bernice Shofner on a farm near Wesley, Arkansas, a small town about 15 miles east of Fayetteville. During her high school years, her family moved to Kansas to a farm about a mile and a half east of the Osawatomie Golf Course. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1950. On May 21, 1950 she married Lloyd Burkdoll of rural Lane. They farmed and ranched with Lloyd’s dad and brother and lived east of Princeton on John Brown Highway, where they raised their four sons; Trent, Mark, Scott, and Tim.

Faye was an active member of the community throughout her life. She was one of the founding members of the Princeton Recreation, helping to buy 40 acres (Garst Field) so the Princeton kids could have a place to play ball. She continued to serve on the recreation board for over 10 years.

She was known for her great cooking abilities, painting talents, affection for animals, and her love of the outdoors.

One of the things she was most proud to be was “Grandma Faye”. Through the years, she took on all the roles; babysitter, teacher, friend, (and her favorite) a faithful spectator at the kids’ sporting events.

September 23rd, 2001, Lloyd passed away. Soon after, Faye reconnected with a high school friend, Colonel James R. Parker, whom she married September 12th, 2003. They continued to live in the family home until her death.

Among those preceding Faye in death are her parents, Hugh and Bernice Shofner and her brothers, Joe and Doyle Shofner.

Survivors include her four sons and daughters-in-law; Trent and Donna Burkdoll, Mark Burkdoll and Shelly Johnson, Scott and Linda Burkdoll, and Tim and Phyllis Burkdoll; her grandsons; Clint, Chad, Cody, Josh, Nathan, Tyler, and Trever; her granddaughters; Shannon, Danielle, and Natalie; and her 14 great-grandchildren; and many relatives in Northwest Arkansas.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home. A family visitation and reception will be held immediately following the services at Princeton Community Building.
