GEORGE DEVORE

CLASS OF 1948

MAY 2, 1930 - MARCH 3, 2003

George O. DeVore, 72, Arvada, CO, a native of Rantoul and former Osawatomie resident, died March 3, 2003 in Arvada.

He and his twin sister, Marie, were born May 2, 1930 in Rantoul, the children of Henry A. and Ollie L. Hoy DeVore. He grew up in Osawatomie, where he attended school and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1948.

Mr. DeVore retired from the U.S. Army as a sergeant 1st class after 20 years of service. He later worked for 16 years at the Arvada Post Office in Colorado.

His Osawatomie heritage, his military career, his family and his classmates were important to him.

A brother, Marion DeVore, was among those preceding his in death.

Surviving are his wife, Shrizuko DeVore; two daughters, Barbara and Mary; a son, Georgie; two sisters, His twin, Marie McQuay of Paola and Vivian Barnard of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services were at the Simpson United Methodist Church in Arvada with burial in Fort Logan National Cemetery.
