Last rights for Ethel May Cassella, Tonganoxie, were held Thursday in Leavenworth. Mrs. Cassella, 69, died Sunday, April 26, 1998 in Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born April 11, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of Charlie and Marie Shope. She grew up in Osawatomie and was a 1947 Osawatomie High School graduate. She and Raymond Cassella were married May 6, 1953 in Pineville, MO. Mrs. Cassella was a member of the Osawatomie Baptist Church. Those preceding her in death include her father and a brother, Robert Shope. Survivors include her husband, Raymond, of the home; her mother, Marie Shope, Osawatomie; two sons, Raymond Cassella Jr., Lawrence, and Robert Cassella, Tonganoxie; a sister, Helen Wingfield, Osawatomie; and six grandchildren. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Leavenworth.
