Charlie Eldon Hay Jr. age 91 of Osawatomie, Ks died Monday May 21, 2018 at his home.

Charlie was born November 23, 1926 in Lane, Ks.  He was the eldest of two sons born to Charlie Eldon and Blanch Ruth (Eastwood) Hay Sr.
He grew up in Lane, Kansas and attended grade school at Clark Valley School in Lane.  He attended high school in Osawatomie graduating with the Osawatomie High School Class of 1944.

As a youth Charlie attended the Spring Grove Church where he met Myrtle Marie Timblin.  They were married on December 2, 1945 in Lane, Ks. Together the couple had three children, Deloris Jean, Janice, and Dennis "Joe".

Charlie worked as a farmer his whole life.  He row cropped and raised cattle with his dad and brother Abraham.  Charlie was a collector.  He started a salvage yard in 1960 at his home.  What everyone else thought was waste, Charlie saw the value in it.  He continued his salvage yard until 2004 when his house burnt down.  He and Myrtle then moved to Osawatomie.

In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed going to farm sales and auctions.  He could always find something to add to his collections.  He and Myrtle would go to the local cafe's and enjoy breakfast, coffee and visitin with their friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter Deloris Jean, his parents, and his brother Abraham Hay.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years Myrtle of the home, daughter Janice Cherry of the home and son Dennis "Joe" Darlene Hay of Lane, Ks.  Three grandchildren Sandy (Bryan) Shippy, Jimmy (Christi) Hay and Kevin (Tammy) Cherry.  Eight great grandchildren Garnet, Candy, Lindsay, Landen, Brianna, Lily, Lawson, and Lucy, three great great grandchildren Gabriel, Aiden, and James.  Along with other family and friends.
