LINIDA JUANITA WINGFIELD HEWITT

DECEMBER 8, 1918 - APRIL 7, 2007

Linida Juanita Hewitt, age 88, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died April 7, 2007 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center, Paola, Kansas.

Linida was born December 8, 1918 at Osawatomie, Kansas. She was the second of three children born to Obe and Lucy May (Vincent) Wingfield. She grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1940.

She was married to Cecil Leo Hewitt on October 23, 1943. They became the parents of one son. Cecil died in February of 1964.

She worked at the R. C. Tyrell Variety Store from 1940 to 1945. Linida was a homemaker and stayed home to raise her son prior to his teenage years from 1945 until 1962. In 1962, she went to work for Smith-Loungecraft until 1965. She then worked a short time at Mode-O-Day in Osawatomie. She began working in the canteen snack shop at the Osawatomie State Hospital in September of 1965 and worked there until retiring on December 1, 1982.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie. She was also a member of the Osawatomie EHU and Hobby Club. She enjoyed sewing and ceramics.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her son Pat Richard Hewitt and his wife Edie of Paola; two grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Osawatomie Cemetery under the direction of the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. Memorials are to the Osawatomie Alumni Association.
