LLOYD FRANCIS HAY

MAY 20, 1921 - JANUARY 9, 2008

Lloyd Francis Hay, age 86, of Osawatomie, Kansas, formerly of Lane, Kansas, passed away January 9, 2008 at Vintage Park in Osawatomie.

Lloyd was born May 20, 1921 in Miami County, Kansas, five miles east of Lane. He was the oldest son of Challous and Blanche (Bones) Hay.

He attended school through 8th grade in one room schools, namely Pleasant Valley and Independence. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1940.

On March 28, 1943, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Glendenning at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Osawatomie. They made their home on a farm southeast of Lane. To this union three daughters and one son were born.

Lloyd farmed and worked for the Missouri Pacific and Katy Railroads and in later years was a full-time carpenter.

Lloyd enjoyed fishing and spent 20 plus winters in Corpus Christie, Texas. Four of those winters, he and a group did mission work in Haiti, Peru, Brazil, and Puerto Rico.

In 1989, Marjorie's health began failing and she died March 26, 1990.

In October 1993, he had an auction and sold out. He completely retired in 1995.

He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Osawatomie.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister Evelyn Hay.

He leaves behind one son Dr. Ronald L. Hay and his wife Bernetta of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three daughters Navaila Fairlay of Gibson, Louisianna, Connie Payne and her husband Jack of Parker, Kansas, and Penny Watson and her husband Tim of Gridley, Kansas; two brothers LaVern Hay of Central Point, Oregon and Wayne Hay of Greeley; one sister Mildred Hearn of Osawatomie; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. He will lie in state after 1:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home and visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pat Fairley, Thomas Fairley, Jeff Hay, Kevin Hay, Bryan Eitzmann, and Keith Pimple. Honorary pallbearers will be Cathy Pimple and Stacey Eitzmann. Memorials are to the Wesleyan Church or Vintage Park.
