Mrs. Margaret Powell Sipes, 62, died Sunday, May 15, 1983, at her home in Osawatomie.

She was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Osawatomie, the daughter of Loyd and Ethel Powell. She attended the public schools in Osawatomie and graduated from the Osawatomie High School with the class of 1938.

She lived in Kansas City and was employed as a dental assistant for many years.

In 1948 she was married to Lorey Sipes of Kansas City. During her married life, Mrs. Sipes lived in St. Joseph, Mo. and in Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Sipes preceded her in death in 1960.

In 1976 Mrs. Sipes returned to Osawatomie to live. Most recently she was an employee at the Miami County Hospital.

Surviving are her daughter, Lorri Dean Sipes of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a son, Larry Sipes of Los Angeles, Calif.; her sister, Mrs. Mary Maxine Morris and her brother, Jack Powell, both of Osawatomie.

Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Osawatomie Cemetery under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy McDaniel officiated.

Memorials were given in her name to the cancer fund.
