Mrs. Evelyn S. Wiseman, a native of Freeman, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1986, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
The Lawerence resident was 78.

Mrs. Wiseman had lived in Kansas City and Osawatomie before moving to Lawerence in 1946.  She worked for the Selective Service
System in Lawerence.  Mrs. Wiseman was a graduate of Baker University in Baldwin and a member of Alpha Chi Omega
sorority.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lawerence, the PEO Sisterhood, the Order of the Eastern Star,
the Osawatomie Federated Women's Club and several bridge clubs.

She leaves her husband, Howard Wiseman of the home.

Servvices were held Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, at the church and Wednesday afternoon at the Eddy-Birchard Chapel
in Osawatomie.  Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.


Mrs. Evelyn S. Wiseman, 78, Lawerence, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1986, at the University of Kansas Medical Center
in Kansas City, Kan.

The only child of Presley Roscoe and Lillian M. Suddarth Scott, she was born June 24, 1908, in Freeman, Mo.  The
family moved to Kansas City and then to Osawatomie when she was a small girl.

She graduated from the Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1926.  She attended Baker University at Baldwin
and graduated in 1932.

While a young girl living in Osawatomie, she worked at the Fred Wicke Drug Store and was also a dental
assistant for Dr. I.E. Stewart.

On Oct. 6, 1934, she was married to Howard Wiseman in Osawatomie.  They returned to Osawatomie to live and after
the war, in 1946, they moved to Lawerence.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband Howard Wiseman of the home, and several nieces and nephews.  Star services were conducted
at the chapel.  The Rev. Dean Dixon of the First Baptist Church of Lawerence was the officiant.

Mrs. Wiseman worked for the Selective Service System on the draft board from the late 1940s through the Vietnam War.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lawerence, the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Baker University, the Alpha
Chi Omega Alumni Association, the F.Z. Chapter of the P.E.O.

Mrs. Nelle Dollar played organ selections for the services at the chapel.  Jason Pace provided the music in Lawerence.

The burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.  Serving as the pallbearers were M.E. Easton, David Shirk, Bill Eddy, Walter J.
Mikols, Tom Griffiths, and Gerald Pearson.

Memorials were given in her name to the church.

A visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Lawerence.  The services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at the church and at 3 p.m. at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home of Osawatomie.  The burial will be
in the Osawatomie Cemetery.


Services for Evelyn Scott Wiseman, Lawerence, were held here Wednesday morning in the First Baptist Church.  A second
service was held Wednesday afternoon in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie.

Mrs. Wiseman, a former Osawatomie resident, died Saturday in the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
She was 78.

She was born in Freeman, Mo., the daughter of Roscoe and Lillie Scott.  She lived in Osawatomie for a number of years
and gradtuated from Osawatomie High School in 1926.  She had also lived in Kansas City before moving to Lawerence in 1846.  

She worked for the Selective Service System in Lawerence.  Mrs. Wiseman was a graduate of Baker University, Baldwin City,
and a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lawerence, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Order of Eastern Star and the Osawatomie
GWFC Monday Study Club.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Wiseman, of the home.

Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her name to the First Baptist Church of Lawerence.
