MARCH 30, 1894 - JUNE 5, 1964

Joseph Edwin McIntosh,70, Osawatomie, died June 5, 1964 in St. Luke's Hospital. The son of Rev. and Mrs. Joseph W. McIntosh, he was born March 30, 1894, in Topeka. Orphaned at the age of two years, he was taken into the hone of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gibson of Richmond who reared him as their own son. In 1900 the family moved to a farm northwest of Osawatomie where he grew to manhood. He attended the Osawatomie schools,graduating in 1914 and taught in a country school in 1915. Later, he attended Baker University.

As a child he joined the Plum Creek Methodist church and later transferred his membership to the Osawatomi Methodist church where he was an active member.

Decembe 28, 1921, he was married to Ruby Maher, who died May 28, 1959 In February 1936 they adopted a two-year old girl, Mary Rose.

Mr. McIntosh was in the lumber business in Newton and Hutchinson for 12 years and in 1942 became manager of the Farmers Coop Elevator at Osawatomie. In 1955 he opened the JOMac Insurance Agency and later expanded to include the real estate and income tax business. He had retired just prior to his death.

He was president of the Osawatomie Rotary club and institutional representative of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a past master of Osage Valley Lodge No. 24, AF & AM, a member of the Royal Arch Masons, past patron of Osawatomie Chapter No. 26, OES, past commander of the Hinkle Post No. 204, American Legion, past director of Civil Defense, a member of the Osawatomie Library Board, Chamber of Commerce, the Historical Society and one of three members to help restore the Old Stone Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, whom he married in 1961, of the home; a daughter, Mary Rose, of Kansas City; one sister, Mrs. Azol Hunt of Paola; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Calvin Slater of Mahaska.

Funeral services were held in the First Methodist church at Osawatomie Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Burial was in the Osawatomie cemetery under the direction of the Eddy Funeral Home.
