Services for Mary Elizabeth Gertrude Martin, 1145 Walnut Ave., Osawatomie, were held Tuesday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Martin died Friday, Dec. 4, 1987, at her home. She was 91.

She was born Feb. 19, 1896, in Osawatomie, the daughter of John Wesley and Harriett Greenlee Benton. She grew up in Osawatomie and attended local schools, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1914.

She and Hazle Leroy Martin were married Sept. 26, 1918. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of four children.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker. She had also worked for two different doctors in Osawatomie and at Caton Bakery.

Mrs. Martin was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Hazle, who died Feb. 23, 1987; 11 brothers and sisters; one son; and one grandson.

Survivors include two sons, Hayes LaVerne Martin, LaCygne, and John Martin, Santa Monica, Calif.; a daughter, Hazel Wilhoite, Paola; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Donald E. Watson officiated at the services. Music was provided by Robin Hopper, accompanied by Nelle Dollar, organist. Pallbearers were F. R. Blandon, Bert Ripley, Kenneth Newton, Joe Gibson, Delton Smith and Calvin Cook. Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
