EDNA COOK TUTTLE

CLASS OF 1895

OCTOBER 1, 1875 - APRIL 8, 1925

Mrs. Laura Edna Tuttle was born in Grand Rapids, Wisconsin, October 1, 1875. When about three years of age she accompanied her parents to Holden, Mo., where they lived until their removal to Osawatomie in 1889. She was a student of the Osawatomie High School, graduating with the Class of '95. That year the High School Alumni Association was organized at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Cook, and for some time she acted as the corresponding secretary of the Association.

She was united in marriage to Mr. H. C. Tuttle of Osawatomie, on March 20, 1902. To this union were born five daughters: Bernice, Dorothy, Eleanor, Sarah Josephine and Martha.

Shortly after her marriage she was confirmed in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, of Osawatomie, of which she remained a member all of her life. She was a faithful attendant during recent years of the Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Sunflower Class of the Sunday School. She was for many years a member of Osawatomie Chapter No. 26, Order of the Eastern Star, serving at one time as Worthy Matron of that Chapter. She was also an active member of the Monday Club, and was secretary of its Study Class at the time of her death.

After a brief illness Mrs. Tuttle died at the Speer Hospital at 4:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 8th, reaching the age of 48 years, 6 months and 7 days. Besides her husband and the children, she is survived by one brother, Mr. Charles W. Cook, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. O. J. Thompson, of Kansas City, Mo. A host of friends join with these relatives in mourning the loss of a friend and neighbor whose helpful service and kindsness will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May the memories of her life abide with us all as a sweet and fragrant influence, inspiring us all to nobler and more unselfish living, until we meet her again in the Great Beyond.

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. E. V. Ruskin, at the Presbyterian Church, Friday, April 10th, at 2:30 P.M., the Rev. W. M. Rogers, of the M. E. Church, assisting. Many beautiful floral offerings added to the beauty and impressiveness of the serivce. Interment was held at the Elmdale cemetery, Osawatomie Chapter No. 26, O.E.S., conducted the ceremonies of that Order at the grave.
